New Delhi: Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday said that the Khelo India programme will provide the perfect opportunity to all the aspiring athletes to represent India at the world level. On the sidelines of an event to launch the logo, anthem and mascot of the Khelo India Para Games 2025 in New Delhi, Mandaviya lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Khelo India initiative, calling it an umbrella for the young athletes in the country.

The Khelo India Para Games 2025 is slated to be held from March 20-27 in the national capital with over 1300 athletes in six different sporting disciplines participating in the grand event. The Sports Minister further said that it also provides an opportunity to get exposure and nourish their talent on a global stage.

Khelo India perfect umbrella for young athletes

‘Now we are here for the launch ceremony of the Khelo India Para Games. Khelo India has become such an umbrella for the young athletes of the country to excel, get exposure and then go onto represent India at the global stage,” Mandaviya said at the event.

Additionally, he also said that it is a very important day for him as the FIT India carnival came to an end which saw the participation of over 25000 people. The minister further predicted that in the coming days, the FIT India movement will take over the entire country, making people realise the importance of fitness in the lives.

In addition, Paralympic Committee of India president Devendra Jhajharia, who also graced the event, said that it’s just the start and hoped that the country hosts major para events in future. Jhajharia said that SAI organised the World Para Grand Prix which sent out a message that India is capable of hosting major Para events in the coming time. Khelo India Para Games will help to  identify talent for the future competitions.
