New Delhi: In a huge boost for Mumbai Indians (MI), premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly set to join the team’s camp in the next couple of days after receiving clearance from the medical staff at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Bumrah was undergoing rehab at the CoE after recovering from a back injury.

He sustained a lower back injury during the Sydney Test between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in January this year and has since been sidelined from action. He was asked to load off and was subsequently ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025. He has already missed MI’s first four matches in the ongoing IPL 2025.

However, as per a report in India Today, sources have revealed that Bumrah is set to link up with the rest of the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of their next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Mumbai on Monday, April 07. Though Bumrah will return to MI’s camp, he will not feature in the playing XI against RCB and will need to undergo match simulation before returning to action.

As per the report, sources have revealed that Bumrah has received clearance from the BCCI medical staff, however, he will be required to undergo a couple of match simulations before he can be deemed fit to make his comeback in IPL 2025. The Mumbai Indians’ medical team and coaching staff will monitor him closely during the match simulations.

When will Jasprit Bumrah return?

Bumrah had resumed bowling at the CoE a few days back and was inching closer towards getting the green signal from the BCCI medical staff to join the MI camp. He is now set to link up with his teammates and is expected to make his comeback in Mumbai Indian’s match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, April 13.

In Bumrah’s absence, Mumbai Indians have struggled in IPL 2025 and have managed only one win in their first four matches under captain Hardik Pandya. MI succumbed to a 12-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday to suffer their third loss in IPL 2025. The five-time champions will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways in their next game against RCB.
