New Delhi: A brilliant fightback from Kolkata Knight Riders was in vain as Lucknow Super Giants notched up a 4-run victory over the Ajinkya Rahane-led side at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday. Chasing a mammoth target of 239, the Knight Riders fell just four runs short finishing their innings at 234 in the stipulated 20 overs. Rinku Singh played a lethal cameo of 38 runs in just 15 deliveries towards the end but failed to help his side cross the finish line.

Starting the chase, skipper Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a brilliant 61-run knock in just 35 deliveries while Venkatesh Iyer was the next best scorer for the team with 45 runs in just 29 balls. Masterclass from Pooran takes LSG to a big total

Apart from these two players, Aiden Markram scored 47 runs, joining hands with Pooran for a 71-run stand for the second wickets.

On the bowling front, KKR failed to unleash their best against a superlative batting attack and could take only three wickets. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets while all-rounder Andre Russell picked a wicket. This was LSG’s third win in five matches while KKR suffered their third loss in as many games.
