New Delhi: Sai Sudharsan continued his purple patch with the bat as Gujarat Titans maintained their ascendancy in IPL 2025 with a 58-run win iver Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Sudharsan’s 82 pulled Gujarat to 217 for six after Rajasthan sent them into bat and then could only reach 159 in 19.2 overs in their run chase.

It was Gujarat’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament and with eight points from four wins in five matches, they went to the top of the 10-team standings.

Rajasthan slumped to their third loss in five matches and remained seventh, losing wickets in regular interval while in pursuit of a big target.

Skipper Sanju Samson made a genuine attempt with a 28-bal 41, studded with four boundaries and two sixes but once he and Shimron Hetmeyer (52 off 32 balls, 4×4, 3×6) departed hopes died for Rajasthan.

GT used six bowlers and all of them were among wickets, with seamer Prasidh Krishna being the most successful with 3/24.

Sudharsan shines

Earlier, Sai Sudharsan continued his fine run of form with a quality fifty to push Gujarat to a healthy total of 217 for six. The left hander smashed eight boundaries and three sixes in his 53-ball 82-run knock to notched up his third half century of the season.

The opener though had to negotiate the furious pace of Jofra Archer (1/30), who knocked out Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill’s (2) off stump with a 147.7 kph inswinger.

Jos Buttler (36) counter punched Archer to a smooth drive for a boundary through deep cover and then struck consecutive boundaries off Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Maheesh Theekshana (2/54) as hit for two boundaries but responded by trapping Buttler in front of the wicket for a leg-before decision to break an 80-run partnership.

Shahrukh Khan (36 off 20) then slammed successive boundaries and lofted the ball over deep extra cover for a six to provide fuel to Gujarat’s charge. He then carted Theekshana for 16 runs in the 14th over.

Rajasthan removed Shahrukh and Sherfane Rutherford (7) within a short span of time but Sudharsan continued his charge as Gujarat cross the 20-4un mark and posted a good total.
