New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Riyan Parag was visibly unhappy with the third umpire’s decision during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The Royals were going extremely well in the 218-run chase until Parag was dismissed caught behind. This left him miffed, and he had a short chat with the on-field umpire before making his way out.
It was the first over after the powerplay, and GT had brought Kulwant Khejroliya into the attack to break the dangerous partnership between Sanju Samson and Parag. The decision to bring him in proved worthy as on the fourth delivery, the umpire declared Parag out caught behind. However, Parag opted for the DRS in no time as he was confident about not edging the ball, indicating that his bat hit the ground, which resulted in a loud sound.
The TV replay showed a huge spike as the ball passed the bat and the third umpire was bound to stay with the original on-field decision. This shell-shocked Parag who was also seen raising his complain to the umpire. Senior GT pacer Mohammed Siraj talked to Parag, calming him down while patting his back.

Parag’s 14-ball 26 did make a small impact as he enthralled the fans with some power-hitting, including a four and three huge sixes. However, the momentum shifted in the hosts’ favour soon after his dismissal.
RR fumble in tall chase
Chasing an above 200 target is never easy when facing a capable bowling attack, as was seen on Wednesday when the RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) departed inside the powerplay itself. Soon, Samson and Parag put the innings back on track with a stand of 48 runs. However, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and GT almost sealed the deal for themselves when they dismissed Samson on 41.
Although Shimron Hetmyer produced a late fightback with a quick 52-run knock, it was not enough as RR were folded for 159. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers as he secured three scalps in his kitty.
Riyan Parag was caught behind during RR’s run-chase against GT, sending the on-field decision upstairs which showed a clear spike on the UltraEdge, leaving him miffed and a little argumentative while departing.
