New Delhi: MS Dhoni played a fine finishing cameo to help Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets to snap their five-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and bag their second win of the season. Dhoni smashed 26 off 11 balls laced with 4 fours and a solitary six and combined with Shivam Dube to take CSK over the line from a nervy position in a 167-run chase at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
While the CSK fans would be delighted with their comeback win and Dhoni’s heroics with the bat, some worrying visuals emerged after the game. Dhoni was spotted limping and struggling to walk after the game, sparking concerns about his knee injury resurfacing in the ongoing IPL 2025.
Dhoni was once again exceptional behind the wickets in the game against LSG as he plucked two catches and pulled off one stumping to become the first wicket-keeper to go past 200 dismissals in the IPL. He also affected a sensational run-out to send LSG Abdul Samad packing in the game.
Dhoni did look in slight discomfort while keeping, however, he came out to bat at no.7 for CSK during their run-chase and played a phenomenal knock to take his team home. He was seen limping during the post-match presentation and was also struggling while descending the stairs of the dressing room for the post-match interview.
Later, a clip emerged on social media where Dhoni can be spotted limping while arriving in CSK’s team hotel in Lucknow on Monday. Though his knee was not strapped, Dhoni struggled to walk. It is no secret that the CSK skipper has been dealing with a knee injury for a few years now, but on Monday it was the first time this season that Dhoni looked in visible discomfort.

Can CSK stage a comeback in IPL 2025?
Chennai Super Kings got off to a horrible start in IPL 2025, losing five out of their first six matches of the season. They beat arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their opening game of the season before losing five matches in a row to find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table. The 5-wicket win against LSG ended their losing streak and can be the start of a strong comeback from the five-time champions.
However, CSK will have to sort out the gaping holes in their struggling batting line-up to attain consistency and win enough matches in the remainder of the season to stand a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
