New Delhi: Due to escalation of cross-border tensions in the aftermath of Pahalgam terrorist attack, Indian broadcast crew members of Pakistan Super League could be sent back that could jeopardise coverage of the domestic franchise T20 tournament.

A total of 26 Indian tourists were killed in a gruesome attack believed to be conducted by Pakistani terrorists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam area last Tuesday, which led strong diplomatic punitive reactions from India.

Keeping in mind the heightened tensions in both the countries, the Pakistan government has decided to send back the Indian nationals, to the concern of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

“Since more than two dozen of the production and broadcast crew of the PSL, included Indian nationals. Steps are being taken to replace them. The broadcast and production crew includes engineers, production managers, cameramen, player-tracking experts (all Indian nationals), who ensure a smooth coverage of the PSL,” a PCB source told PTI.

After conducting a meeting of its National Security Council in Islamabad on Thursday, Pakistan gave a 48-hour deadline for all Indian nationals to leave the country.

Till their departure, the Indian nationals currently in Pakistan have been told to restrict their movements with the PCB and PSL broadcast rights holders exploring options of replacing them quickly.

Fancode has suspended telecast of PSL in India after the attack.

Death threat to Gambhir

Meanwhile, India head coach Gautam Gambhir received death threats after the Pahalgam attack, Delhi Police said, making it the second time after 2022 that he received such threats.

The former left-handed batter received threatening mails on the day the attack was carried out from a suspicious Gmail account.

“We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The matter is being investigated,” DCP (Central) M Harsha Vardhan said in a statement.

“Gautam Gambhir is already a Delhi Police protectee and we do not comment on specific security arrangements.”

As per reports, former BJP MP Gambhir reportedly received two mails that read “I KILL YOU” from a sender identifying as “ISIS Kashmir”, police sources told PTI.

A complaint over the threats was made at the Rajinder Nagar police station.

“Dear Sir, Namaskar. As we spoke, please find below the ‘Threat Mails’ received on the mail ID of Mr Gautam Gambhir (Ex-MP), Head Coach Indian Cricket Team. Kindly register the FIR accordingly and ensure the safety and security of the family,” it was written in the complaint.
