New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi after his incredible century against Gujarat Titans on Monday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Suryavanshi amazed everyone with his outstanding performance, making a big mark in T20 cricket history.

Chasing a big total of 210, the left-handed batter scored an incredible 38-ball 101 and helped Rajasthan chase the total inside 16 overs and won by 8 wickets.

The young talent from Bihar, who is just starting his cricket journey, dominated the Gujarat Titans’ experienced bowling attack, which included players with a combined 694 international matches. At just 14 years and 32 days old, he became the youngest player ever to score a century in T20 cricket.

A record-breaking knock from 14-year-old Bihar talent

He also became the second-fastest player to score a hundred in the league’s history, just behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in 2013. He was also awarded the Man of the Match for this splendid performance, which made him the youngest player in the history of the IPL to receive this award.

His explosive innings finally came to an end when Prasidh Krishna bowled a perfect yorker. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar praised Suryavanshi’s brilliant knock that helped Rajasthan win by 8 wickets and announced the cash prize on Tuesday as a token of appreciation from the Bihar government.

After his brilliant performance in the IPL, I also congratulated him over the phone. Mr. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young cricketer from Bihar, will also be given an honorarium of Rs 10 lakh by the state government. I wish that Vaibhav creates new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the country”. Nitish wrote on X.

Vaibhav’s incredible knock helped Rajasthan claim an 8-wicket victory in dramatic circumstances. The impressive win helped RR stay alive in the play-off race.
