By posting ‘All Eyes On Rafah’ on the Internet, people are expressing their solidarity with Palestinians. If you look closely at the image, it features tents in the background which are believed to be from a refugee camp in Rafah, a city in the south of Gaza.
The highly-circulated template has now been re-shared by hundreds of celebrities from across the globe. The viral phrase aims to raise awareness about the ongoing war.
What is happening in Rafah?
According to online reports, Israeli airstrikes recently claimed the lives of at least 37 people outside the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Most of the deceased were sheltering in tents. The shelling led to widespread international outrage, even from some of Israel’s closest allies.
On the other hand, the Israeli military hinted that the blaze that caused heavy loss on Sunday (May 26, 2024) in the tent camp may have been caused by secondary explosions. It further suggested that the blasts were possibly a result of Palestinian militants’ weapons.
According to Gaza health officials’ count, the fire killed 45 Palestinians. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the blaze occurred due to a ‘tragic mishap’.
For the uninitiated, Israel’s assault on Rafah commenced on May 6, 2024, and it has caused nearly 1 million people to flee the city so far. The refugee families are said to be living across makeshift tent camps.
