New Delhi: The Italian Open 2025 semifinals are finally confirmed, with the men’s singles semifinals featuring a blend of homegrown talent and international prowess. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner continues his dominant run in Rome as he edged past Casper Ruud to join Carlos Alcaraz, Lorenzo Musetti, and Tommy Paul to complete the semi-finalists.

Jannik Sinner showcased a masterclass in his quarterfinal match against Casper Ruud, dispatching the Norwegian 6-0, 6-1 in just over an hour. This victory marks Sinner’s 25th consecutive win on the tour, becoming the fifth man to join the elite list of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. The Italian has been in a formidable form since returning from a three-month suspension. His blend of power and precision left Ruud with limited options as Sinner dominated from the baseline and at the net. The 23-year-old now eyes his first Italian Open title and finally ends the 49-year wait in front of his home crowd.

Alcaraz vs. Musetti: A renewed rivalry

Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti are set to reignite their rivalry in the semifinals. Alcaraz, currently ranked No. 3, has a 4-1 head-to-head advantage over Musetti, including a recent victory in the Monte Carlo final. However, Musetti, buoyed by the Italian supporters, aims to leverage his familiarity with the clay courts to challenge the Spaniard. Their semifinal encounter promises a blend of tactical prowess and youthful exuberance as they come face to face tonight at 7 pm.

Tommy Paul’s resilience

American Tommy Paul continues to impress, reaching the semifinals after a straight-sets victory over Hubert Hurkacz. Despite off-court distractions, including the repossession of his vehicle back home, Paul has maintained focus, showcasing his adaptability and tenacity on the clay surface. His upcoming match against Sinner will test his mettle as he seeks to become the first American man to reach the Italian Open final since Andre Agassi.

On the WTA front, the women’s singles final will feature Coco Gauff against Italy’s Jasmine Paolini. Gauff, who is well known for her athleticism and strategic play, will aim to secure her first Italian Open title, while Paolini, who is riding on a wave of national support, will aim to become the first Italian woman to win the tournament since Raffaella Reggi in 1985. Their contrasting styles set the stage for a compelling final as they lock horns on Saturday.

Jannik Sinner extends his unbeaten streak by beating Casper Ruud as Italian Open 2025 semifinals are confirmed; Alcaraz, Musetti, and Paul also advance.  Tennis Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
