IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans turn ‘lavender’ for LSG clash at Motera – What is it about?

New Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) will be seen in new and fresh colours when they take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at their home ground – the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. The GT players will don the lavender-coloured jerseys, keeping away from their traditional dark blue outfit for a night, and have already started promoting the initiative on their social media.

Although it isn’t happening for the first time, as the team has worn the lavender jerseys in past seasons as well, it is all for a reason. For those unversed, GT sporting the lavender colour marks their fight against all kinds of cancer and raising awareness about the same through the initiative. They have been a firm supporter of the cause and will be taking the field on Thursday for the same.

The Titans have posted several videos on the internet, seeking support from everyone and turning their fight against cancer into making people more aware of the lethal disease. The symbol of the “lavender ribbon”, which stands for all types of cancer awareness, has been at the fore in their battle, and when they play at the Motera ground on Thursday, they will be eyeing a win to contribute it towards the cause.

GT’s IPL 2025 campaign

Already qualified for the playoffs, GT will now eye to keep their top-two position intact in order to get the benefit of playing Qualifier 1. They have been a team to be reckoned with in the ongoing season, which started their campaign with a loss but turned things around in some fashion, and are now carrying nine wins in 12 games and only three losses.

They are currently the top-placed team in the points table with 18 points and can reach a maximum of 22, with two games still remaining. The coach-captain duo of Ashish Nehra and Shubman Gill has proved to be too good for the franchise, and they are well on course for a second title in only their four years of participation.

They last beat the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 10 wickets in Delhi and are now set for their final two games, the last of which will be played against an eliminated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, May 25, also in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Titans (GT) will take the field in the fresh lavender jerseys against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at their home ground in the penultimate IPL 2025 league game of their campaign on Thursday.
