New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it mandatory for all centrally-contracted and international players to feature in at least one domestic tournament when free from national commitments.

PCB feels that making the domestic structure more competitive will help improve the quality of players.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, while chairing a meeting, said that the move will allow domestic players and youngsters to play alongside international, experienced players and give a golden opportunity to share the dressing room with them.

“It will benefit the domestic players in the long run and be prepared for what to expect at the International level,” he said.

Pakistan’s new white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, T20 skipper Salman Ali Agha, Head of international cricket affairs Usman Wahla, and Director of National Cricket Aaqib Javed attended the meeting.

The PCB have started to work on the issuance of new central contracts for 2025-26 to meet the July 30 deadline, having missed it in the last two years.

After introducing new first-class, ODI and T20 competitions known as the Champions Cup and hiring five mentors for all five teams at hefty salaries, PCB scrapped the Champions Cup for the coming domestic season.

Usman Wahla also announced the team’s international commitments for the next six months, including home assignments against South Africa and Sri Lanka and tours to the West Indies and Bangladesh.

The move by PCB is aimed to allow domestic players and youngsters to play alongside international and experienced players.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
