New Delhi: The second phase of the consecration ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya began on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. A grand sacred procession started from the Saryu River on Monday as a precursor to the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony.
Police and local officials have put Ayodhya on high alert ahead of this event. Commandos from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and armoured vehicles are stationed around the temple complex, which is a restricted area. Surveillance will occur round-the-clock in three shifts.

What will happen in the three-day celebration?
The upcoming rituals will feature the consecration of idols in the Ram Darbar on the temple’s first floor and in six other temples within the complex. The main ceremonies will take place on June 5, during the auspicious Ganga Dussehra festival.
Eight splendid Devalayas have been newly constructed within the Mandir Complex, each enshrining a vigraha of revered Shastriya Devtas. The sacred Pran Pratishtha ceremony for these vigrahas will be conducted with full religious observance, commencing on 3 June 2025.

Kalash Yatra
The Kalash Yatra began on Monday evening, moving from Saryu Ghat through Veena Chowk, Ram Path, Singar Haat, and Rang Mahal Barrier to reach the temple grounds.

Rituals
Rituals, including fire offerings and chanting of 1,975 mantras, will occur on June 3 and 4 from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. The main consecration of idols depicting Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Lord Hanuman, along with six other temple idols, will happen on June 5.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to attend events
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend four key events: the main consecration ceremony, the Saryu Trayodashi Utsav, the birthday celebrations of Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, and an event commemorating World Environment Day.
Champat Rai, secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, urged the public not to visit Ayodhya just because of news about the rituals.
No public invitation
There are no public invitations scheduled for June 3-5. While the temple is open for the ‘darshan’ of Ram Lalla, the first-floor Ram Darbar and nearby temples are still under construction and closed to devotees.
Arrangements done
District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde said extensive arrangements are in place, including shaded waiting areas, drinking water, sanitation, and ORS sachets for visitors at both the Ram Mandir and Hanumangarhi. Emergency hospital beds are also set up throughout the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover stated that multiple inspections have been done, and security has been strengthened at all levels, both inside and outside the temple. Personnel from the ATS and Special Task Force (STF) are present to help the event proceed smoothly.
Throwback: January 2024 celebration
A similar three-day celebration took place on January 11 to mark the first anniversary of the original ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which attracted a large crowd. A significant turnout is expected for this week’s events.
