New Delhi: Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is present in the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to cheer for his favourite team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Both teams are gunning to win their maiden IPL title in the blockbuster final.

Rajat Patidar-led RCB entered the final after thrashing Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in the Qualifier 1, while Shreyas Iyer & Co. booked their spot in the summit clash after beating Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets in the 2nd Qualifier in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Conservative politician Sunak had earlier confirmed he would be attending the final in Ahmedabad to support RCB.

The former UK Prime Minister shared a picture with his wife Akshata Murty from the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium, witnessing the IPL 2025 final live. “Let’s go @RCBtweets,” Sunak captioned the picture, expressing his support for RCB in the summit clash.

“I’ll give you a clue — Ee Sala Cup Namde,” Sunak had earlier told the Times of India when asked which team he was rooting for ahead of the high-octane IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad. Sunak also revealed he is in India to cheer for his favourite cricketer – RCB superstar Virat Kohli, who will be hoping to bring an end to an 18-year-long wait for his maiden IPL title with the franchise on Tuesday.

RCB get off to steady start in IPL 2025 final

Royal Challengers Bengaluru got off to a steady start after being asked to bat first in the blockbuster final by Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer. Phil Salt got off to a flyer, but was dismissed cheaply on 16 off 9 balls by Kyle Jamieson in the second over. Kohli then combined with Mayank Agarwal (24) to share a 38-run stand for the second wicket and steady the ship for RCB.

Mayank was sent back by Yuzvendra Chahal in his first over as the right-hander ended up getting caught Arshdeep Singh after scoring 24 off 18 balls. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar too failed to convert his start into a big score as he was dismissed after scoring 26 off 16 balls.
