New Delhi: Star India cricketer Virat Kohli penned an emotional note on Father’s Day for his late dad on Sunday, June 15. The former India captain revealed the exact moment that changed his life’s mantra.
He posted a childhood picture with his father, Prem Kohli, alongside an emotional message on Instagram. The note offered fans a rare glimpse into the values and lessons that have shaped Kohli’s life journey. The star cricketer wrote that it was his father who instilled the ethics of hard work in him.
He revealed that despite being given a shortcut to the team during his early days, his father refused it for him and taught him to never rely on them.
“When I was offered an easier path once, he refused it for me. With calm conviction, he said, ‘If you’re good enough, you’ll find your way. And if not, it’s better to know that early.’ That one moment shaped how I live, work, and show up in the world. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers whose quiet strength becomes our lifelong compass,” Kohli added.
His father was a lawyer by profession and played a pivotal role in shaping the early life and career of star cricketer. Prem Kohli passed away due to a stroke at the age of 54 in 2006. This event had a huge impact on Virat, and despite the personal loss, he displayed remarkable resilience and commitment to the game and scored 90 runs in the match between Delhi and Karnataka, just a day after the passing of his father.
