New Delhi: Former India pacer Siddharth Kaul has registered for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) draft as he gears up to return to competitive cricket after announcing his retirement from international cricket last year. Kaul, who announced his retirement in November, 2024, is the only Indian to have registered himself in the BBL 2025-26 draft, which is set to take place on Thursday, June 19.
Kaul, who is an active banker, had returned to SBI’s office immediately after retiring from international cricket last year. Several current and former Indian cricketers hold government jobs to sustain their lives after retirement, and Kaul is one of them. The former Punjab pacer, who played for the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL, had also shared a picture of him heading to SBI after retirement.

Kaul has been working with SBI since 2017, even before making his international debut for India. The pacer, who played three ODIs and as many T20Is for India, was also given a promotion by SBI, one of the leading banks in India, in 2020. Post retirement, Kaul had more time to focus on his banking job, however, the 35-year-old seems not to have given up entirely on his cricketing aspirations yet.
Kaul played his last first-class match for Punjab against Haryana in November last year. He took part in Legend 90, a 90-ball cricket tournament featuring some of the legends of Indian cricket, and retired cricketers from across the globe. It remains to be seen if the pacer will find takers in the upcoming BBL draft for the 2025-26 season.
