New Delhi: Glenn Maxwell went berserk with the bat as he smashed a sensational 48-ball century for Washington Freedom in their clash against the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 on Wednesday. Maxwell lit up the Oakland Coliseum in California with his unbeaten knock of 106 runs off just 49 balls that helped Washington Freedom beat LA Knight Riders by 113 runs.

Skipper Maxwell walked out to bat at no.6 for Washington Freedom after they lost Jack Edwards cheaply on 11 to be left reeling at 68/4 in the 8th over. The Aussie star got off to a slow start as he scored 11 runs off the first 15 balls he faced. However, Maxwell shifted gears seamlessly and launched a brutal onslaught against the Knight Riders’ bowlers to race to his century in the next 33 deliveries.

Maxwell’s stunning 106 off 49 balls was laced with a whopping 13 sixes as he went on an incredible six-hitting spree against the Knight Riders’ bowling attack, hitting every bowler out of the park. The captain’s knock powered the Washington Freedom to a huge total of 208/5 on the board in 20 overs.

Glenn Maxwell becomes 1st player to achieve rare T20 record

Maxwell scripted history with his century against the LA Knight Riders as his unbeaten 106-run knock helped him breach the 10.500 run mark in T20 cricket. With the stellar achievement, the Australian all-rounder has now become the first player in the world to have completed a treble of 10,500 runs, 170 wickets and multiple centuries in T20 cricket.

No other player with more than 10,500 runs and 170 wickets has managed more than one century in T20 cricket. West Indies legend Kieron Pollard and former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik are the only two other players with more than 10,000 runs and 150 wickets in T20 cricket.

Pollard has 13,599 runs and 326 wickets to his name in 697 matches in T20s, however, he has scored only 1 century in his T20 career so far. Malik, on the other hand, has 13571 and 187 wickets under his belt, but has never scored a century in the shortest format. Maxwell has 8 tons, 10574 runs and 178 wickets in 469 matches in his T20 career.

Washington Freedom beat LA Knight Riders by 113 runs

Washington Freedom rode on Maxwell’s blistering 106-run knock to beat LA Knight Riders by 113 runs in the match. In pursuit of the 209-run target, LS Knight Riders git bundled out for a paltry 95 runs after Jack Edwards and Mitchell Owen bowled impressive spells for Washington Freedom, picking up three wickets apiece. With the win, Washington Freedom moved to the 3rd spot on the MLC 2025 points table with 4 points from 3 matches.
