Andhra Pradesh Assembly session begins, Chandrababu Naidu enters Assembly after 2.5 years

The first session of 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Session began on Friday in the capital Amaravati as Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan took oath in the presence of pro-tem speaker Gorantla Butchaiah Chaudhary.

Naidu entered the Assembly amid Vedic chants and a grand welcome by Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan. Notably, he stepped into the Assembly after two-and-a-half years. In November 2021, after facing personal attacks on him and his family by the YSRCP govt, he vowed to return to the Assembly only as Chief Minister.

 

 

 

Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan, who also entered Assembly for the first time took oath as an MLA.

 

Elections for Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held on Saturday, as per reports.

New MLAs taking oath:

There are 81 new MLAs in AP Assembly. Five people from Kurnool district won as MLAs for the first time. Sujana Choudhary and Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy who worked as Union Ministers in the past took oath as MLAs. Two retired IAS officers were also elected to the Legislative Assembly this time.

In the election that concluded recently, TDP won 135 seats in the Legislative Assembly, Jana Sena won  21 seats and BJP won  8. YCP has 11 members. YCP chief Jagan took oath along with MLAs due to lack of opposition status.

 Chandrababu Naidu stepped into the Assembly after a break of two-and-a-half years.
