New Delhi: Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 303 at T-Mobile Arena in La Vegas. The Brazilian champion Pereira defended his light heavyweight title and knocked out Jiri in the second round of the fight with his high leg kick.
Pereira and Jiri’s vicious stare-down set the tone of the fight. The match started with Alex and Jiri both respecting each other’s power in the starting minutes. But Pereira landed a thunderous left hook to Jiri just 10 seconds before the bell.
The second round started with Pereira landing a perfect left head kick to Jiri and then a famous left hook crashing him to the canvas. Referee Herb Dean took 13 seconds to end the fight in the second round.
Jiri couldn’t stand properly after being hit and took many attempts to stand after the fight.

The Pereira vs Jiri fight was a replacement fight for the Conor Mcgregor vs Michael Chandler fight. Conor pulled off the fight just before 15 days from UFC 303 after suffering a toe injury. Pereira vs Jiri II was scheduled as a replacement fight.
Interestingly, fans are now reacting to this knockout as the late stoppage from Herb Dean Jiri was stunned by the leg kick but Herb waited for more seconds and Pereira then hit some punches before the stoppage. In the first fight between Pereira and Jiri fans were calling that fight an early stoppage by the referee.
