New Delhi: France and Belgium are up for a heavyweight round of 16 battle as both the sides look to make it through to the quarter final. Both the teams have had a limp in their finishing throughout the group stages as both the teams managed to score just two goals. France have hardly had a sniff at goal ever since the campaign started, evidenced by the fact that none of the French players have scored from an open play with both of their goals being penalties.
France haven’t quite looked their best this campaign as they have a reputation of being one of the best attacking sides in the world, but this Euro campaign has been a massive disappointment due to their lack of creativity and finishing. However, they will be looking to make the most out their chances against a side who can be equally dangerous offensively. France still look like one of the favourites to lift the trophy due to their depth in the quad and their history in this competition.
Belgium have had an equally disappointing campaign as they started off their Euro 2024 with a 1-0 defeat against Slovakia but somehow managed to make it out of their group. However, it wasn’t the best way to do it as they were expected to top their group, but they just about managed to qualify by finishing second, behind Romania. Their attacking play, without a doubt, has been one of the best over the years but this season has been a complete horror show for the Belgian attackers as they managed to score just two goals throuout the group stages.
It is an important game for both the sides as both need to focus on their attacking play which was clearly not a problem for either of the teams in the past.
