New Delhi: After the culmination of scheduled events for T20 World Cup 2024 winners Team India, each player headed back to their hometown including Mohammed Siraj who flew to Hyderabad on Friday where a hero welcome awaited for him. The Indian fans have been kind enough to give the players due respect for the World Cup triumph which came in after 13 years and ended an 11-year-long ICC trophy drought.

As soon as Siraj landed in the city, he was surrounded by the fans who waited for his arrival and conveyed their wishes to the pace stalwart. Speaking to the reporters at the airport, he said that it was a proud moment for him to win the World Cup and that it was difficult to describe his feelings. “India has been waiting for a long time to get the World Cup. Very happy (to have won now),” he said.

The rousing reception that he got was nothing short of magical as the Hyderabad locals thronged the city’s streets through which Siraj was heading back home. A roadshow was planned for him as well in the neighbourhood of Mehdipatnam where he greeted all the fans from the sunroof of his car, waving and bowing in respect while being wrapped in the Indian flag.

Team India disperse

As they landed in Delhi on Thursday early morning after a long 16-hour non-stop flight from Barbados, there was no rest for the World Cup heroes who had a packed day ahead of them. The team went to their hotel to freshen up and prepare for the scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi. The team had an interaction with the PM regarding their experiences in the tournament and in the all-important final.

This was just the start of the day as they had to fly to Mumbai next on the very same day for a victory parade that was scheduled at the Marine Drive. Although it started after a two-hour delay, the fans who gathered in huge numbers waited since the afternoon for the team’s arrival. The numbers increased with each hour passing and as soon as the team boarded the open bus for the roadshow, fans’ excitement had no bounds.

The Men in Blue flaunted the prestigious trophy to the fans who came in to cheer for them as the team headed from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium where the felicitation ceremony was scheduled next. The team danced their heart out, gave speeches, took a victory lap, and got the prize money from the BCCI. Star batter Virat Kohli notably arrived in India for a day as he jetted off to London a few hours later with the Mumbaikars staying back in the city and the rest of the contingent returning to their home.

Mohammed Siraj got a rousing reception in Hyderabad as fans gathered on the streets to greet the Indian pacer who won the T20 World Cup 2024 with Team India in Barbados.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
