Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after completing his two-day visit to Moscow, has now reached Vienna for a one-day visit to Austria. This visit is a special one, as it was the first time in 41 years that an Indian Prime Minister visited Austria. Last time, it was Indira Gandhi who went to Austria in 1983.
PM Modi was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the Austrian Foreign Minister as he posted, “A warm welcome to Indian PM Narendra Modi on his historic visit to Austria, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. The partnership between our nations is based on a joint commitment to global security, stability and prosperity,” on X.
Following this, to make this visit more endearing, the Austrian artists performed Vande Mataram to welcome the Prime Minister as he arrived at the Ritz-Carlton.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer also posted this on X and wrote, “Welcome to Vienna, PM @narendramodi ! It is a pleasure and honour to welcome you to Austria. Austria and India are friends and partners. I look forward to our political and economic discussions during your visit!”
Later, PM Modi joined Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer at the dinner hosted by him. At the dinner, PM Modi was also greeted by the Indian community living in Austria, which was excited to meet him and clicked selfies to seize the memorable moment. He also posted on X and wrote, “Thank you, Chancellor @karlnehammer, for the warm welcome. I look forward to our discussions tomorrow as well. Our nations will continue working together to further global good.”
PM Modi reached Austria after completing the two-day Russia visit, where he met President Putin and co-chaired the Russia-India Summit. He was also honored with the highest civilian order of Russia, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, by President Putin.
