New Delhi: Team India’s new coach Gautam Gambhir all set to take charge from the limited over series against Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs against Sri Lanka starting from July 26. Avesh Khan praised the new head coach and revealed some insights about his mindset.
Avesh played with the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 and 2023 IPL where Gambhir mentored him. He said that he learned from Gambhir that you should always give your 100 per cent.
“Whatever I have learned from him, it is about the mindset that you should always look to get the better of your opponent and give your 100 per cent,” Avesh said ahead of the fourth T20I.
He also that Gambhir speaks less but conveys his point and always wants to win and for everyone to give their 100 per cent.
“In team meetings, as well as one-on-ones, he would speak less but would convey his point as to what is to be done. He would assign tasks and roles to players and he has always been a ‘team coach’, he always wants to win and everyone to give their 100 per cent” he added.
Avesh picked up 6 wickets in three matches and said that conditions are good in Harare and the ball also swings a bit because it’s an open ground.
“We have played on different wickets here. We played the first two matches on the same deck, there was a good bounce in the first match but in the second it had flattened out. The conditions are good, since it is an open ground the ball also swings a bit,” he said.
