New Delhi: Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh is taking the internet by storm with one of his old videos that has gone viral in the last couple of days. As Team India is very unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, the cricketing boards of both nations haven’t been very amicable over it. With tensions building between the two countries, an old video of Harbhajan Singh having his stance on the matter is making rounds on the internet.
In the video, which is from a Pakistani news channel, Harbhajan can be seen discussing India’s stance to refrain from travelling to the neigbouring country considering the safety issues of the players. The discussion becomes heated and the ex-India cricketer schools the Pakistani journalist over it. For the marquee ICC event whose hosting rights were bagged by Pakistan, India seem to remain stern on their long stance of not sending the Men in Blue across the border, also minding the sour political relations between the countries.
The recent reports on the matter suggest that the BCCI might opt for a hybrid model just like they did during the Asia Cup 2023. In the video, even Harbhajan backs the decision, expressing his concerns regarding the safety of players in Pakistan. He goes on to say that Indian cricket doesn’t need Pakistan to survive.
“If our players are not safe in Pakistan, we won’t send the team. If you want to play, play… if not, don’t. Indian cricket can still survive without Pakistan. If you guys can survive without Indian cricket, then do it,” Harbhajan said in the viral video.

Hybrid Asia Cup 2023
With the acceptance of all the cricket boards, the Asia Cup 2023 saw a hybrid model with India’s games scheduled solely in Sri Lanka. Similar has reportedly been the ask of BCCI with another location as the UAE. However, an official statement is still awaited from the BCCI regarding the development.
The 2023 edition of the Asia Cup was supposed to be held completely in Pakistan but it was later converted into a hybrid model following the intervention by the BCCI. As a result, it led to several logistical challenges for Pakistan as India played all of their games in Sri Lanka.
