New Delhi: WWE superstar Brock Lesnar has long been absent from the ring since his last appearance that came in the SummerSlam 2023 and speculations have been running rife regarding his career and his future at the WWE. It all comes under scrutiny specially after a legal fallout with the company regarding the Janel Grant lawsuit against ex-owner Vince McMahon.
Lesnar was undoubtedly a grand star power in the regime of McMahon and all that fans speculated seems to have come true. After the departure of McMahon from the CEO position, his career has been on a downward spiral. McMahon’s departure was preceded by the merger of WWE and UFC and there’s no positive follow-up news for that as well.
Is Brock Lesnar returning to WWE?
Well, the recent updates aren’t so pleasing and indicate that Brock Lesnar’s return on WWE television won’t be happening and the new board that has been established, continues to maintain a distance from him due to the sex trafficking lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon and WWE. Lesnar’s name surfaced in the report of the accusation as the recipient of McMahon’s illicit request. A former WWE/UFC Heavyweight Champion was also mentioned in connection.
Contradictorily, Lesnar was moved back to the active roster of the WWE, earlier this year, which led fans to speculate a possible return of him in the wake of Monday Night Raw moving to Netflix within a few months. There are reports of top WWE stars like John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and even The Rock making their way back to the ring for WWE’s move to Netflix in January 2025.
As WWE WrestleMania 41 is set to air on Netflix but Lesnar is excluded from the mix as well. It seems clear that unless the remaining legal issues get settled, it would be hard for WWE to bring The Beast on the largest OTT platform. Although there were initial plans for him to make a return in this year’s Royal Rumble, but due to the lawsuit, he was removed from all aspects of the competition including the WWE 2K24 video game.
The die-hard Lesnar fans and the WWE world can only hope that they haven’t already seen the last of ex-WWE Champion which came during his fight against Cody Rhodes in the SummerSlam 2023.
