New Delhi: Virna Jandiroba submitted Amanda Lemos via armbar in the second round in UFC Fight Night at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas on July 21. Jandiroba was ahead of Lemos in the match as she outperformed Lemos on the ground. Jandiroba takedowns Lemos in the first round and used her Brazilian compatriot.
In the second round, Jandiroba got the back of Lemos and looked for a rear-naked choke from behind but Lemos was successful in defending herself from the dangerous position. With just 30 seconds left in the second round, Jandiroba winded things up shifted her hips to her, and quickly locked the armbar to Lemos and Lemos tapped when just 20 seconds were left in the round.
After the win, Jandiroba called Zhang Weili Women’s Strawweight Champion and called herself the best active contender for the title fight.
Four fighters won the ‘Performance of the Night’ in UFC Vegas 94:
1. Virna Jandiroba
After submitting Lemos in the main event Jandiroba bagged a $50k bonus as she is next to the title fight in the women’s Strawweight Divison.
2. Steve Garcia
Garcia knocked out SeungWoo Choi in the co-main event. Garcia TKO Choi in the first round itself, Garcia aimed Choi’s chin from the start of the bout and ultimately won the fight by TKO. Garcia also won a $50k bonus.
3. Bruno Silva
Silva also bagged a $50k bonus as his remarkable comeback against Cody Durden stunned everybody. Silva TKO Durden in the second round and is now on his fourth back-to-back TKO win in UFC.
4. Hyder Amil
Amil knocked out JeongYeong Lee in less than 60 seconds, In just 60 seconds Amil hit 38 punches to Lee which ended up winning the fight by TKO in the first round of the bout. Amil won a $50k bonus for the TKO win.
