The Paris Olympics 2024 is up and running and is done with the first two days where several athletes shone for their nation, collecting medals and making a name for themselves at a global stage. The likes of Japan, China, France, South Korea, and Australia are topping the charts with the most medals and India had their say with an entry in the medal tally on the second day.
Although the Games are majorly going through the group stage fixtures or qualifying rounds, those done with the qualifications are playing the knockout games. Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, who qualified for the finals of women’s 10m air pistol on the opening day itself, made the nation proud by winning a bronze medal, India’s first at the ongoing Games. She became the first Indian woman shooter to bag an Olympic medal.
The third day for India is highlighted by shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta who will be vying for a gold medal in the finals of the 10m air rifle after getting qualified for the event on the previous day. Both have a brilliant opportunity to clinch their maiden Olympic medals and bring laurels to the nation.
Out of the 205 participating nations, India is being represented by its 117-member delegation. A number of Indian athletes will be in action on the third day, playing across five sports. Also eyeing a medal will be the men’s archery team, who, if qualified, can compete for the gold medal as well. It promises to be an exciting day!
