New Delhi: UFC President Dana White increased the ‘Performance of Night’ bonus for UFC 304 in Co Op Live arena, Manchester, England on July 28, Sunday. King Green requested to double up the bonus in the pre-fight press conference and then White increased the bonus from $50,000 to $100,000 to motivate fighters in the prelims cards. All the fights in the prelims card went for decisions and three out of five fights in the main card went into the distance.
A total of nine bouts went into the decision from 14 bouts that show it was not up to the mark UFC event, added that fans in the UK were watching UFC 304 live from morning 3 am and Leon Edwards also said he was feeling tired as he had to fight in the morning.
White was not happy with the performances of the fighters at UFC 304 and said at the post-fight conference that he would never increase the bonus in future events. It was just last time he increased the bonus for the fighters that they didn’t deliver and he also stated that nobody fought harder except Tom Aspinall and Paddy Pimblett as both fighters finished the opponent in the first round of the bout.
“I think tonight showed that we should not,” White said when asked about permanently increasing the bonuses. “Upping them doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t make anybody fight any harder. It doesn’t change anything. I’m not doing this again. Ever. Today was the last day that I’m doing that.
Belal Muhammad becomes new UFC welterweight champion
Belal Muhammad defeated Leon Edwards for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 304 via unanimous decision. Belal broke the 9-year-long Edwards unbeaten streak in his hometown. Belal was dominant from the first round itself but Edwards gave him a chance by winning the third round but Belal came back hard in the fourth round and takedown the champion twice and won the fight.
