New Delhi: Manu Bhaker will be eyeing a second medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after scripting history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympics. The 22-year-old shooter opened India’s tally at the Summer Games, clinching a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol final on Sunday. For her next medal event on Tuesday, she will be teamed up with shooter Sarabjot Singh as a part of the mixed team event in 10m air pistol.
Manu and Sarabjot Singh qualified for the bronze medal match in the mixed team 10m air pistol event after finishing third in the qualifying round on Monday. The Indian pair finished with a score of 580 and bagged the third spot in the leaderboard, qualifying for the bronze battle. It is noteworthy that Manu now boasts a chance to script history once again as she can become the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
Manu and Sarabjot will aim at adding another medal to India’s tally as they take on the pair of Oh Ye-jin and Wonho Lee from South Korea in the bronze medal match. The Koreans finished fourth on the table with a score of 579, just a point behind the Indian duo. The first two positions were grabbed by Türkiye (1st with 582) and Serbia (2nd with 581) who will compete in a gold medal match of the same event.
