Rudrabhishek Procedure
On August 2, after an evening bath, begin by meditating on Lord Ganesha.
Contemplate Lord Shiva, Parvati, and all deities, including the nine planets, and resolve to perform Rudrabhishek.
Prepare a Shivling from clay and place it on a platform facing north.
The person performing Rudrabhishek should face the east.
First, bathe the Shivling with Ganga water. Follow this with an abhishek using sugarcane juice, raw cow’s milk, honey, ghee, and sugar.
Before and after each offering, pour pure water or Ganga water over the Shivling.
Offer Bilva leaves, bhang, dhatura, akshat, shami flowers and leaves, white sandalwood, rice grains, black sesame seeds, fruits, sweets, kaner, kalawa, and white flowers.
Worship the Shiva family along with all deities and offer prasad.
Conclude with a heartfelt aarti of Lord Shiva and offer a prayer for forgiveness.
Collect the water or other liquids used in Rudrabhishek, sprinkle it around the home and on all individuals, and accept it as prasad.
It is considered highly auspicious to have Rudrabhishek performed by a learned priest. However, devotees may also complete the ritual by reciting Rudrashtakshari themselves. Additionally, lighting lamps in temples or near rivers on Sawan Shivratri is believed to bring prosperity. As long as the lamp burns during Sawan, Lord Shiva is thought to be present, fulfilling devotees’ wishes and removing all troubles.
