Mumbai: The Maharashtra government’s ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’ scheme aims to empower women by enhancing their financial independence. The scheme is designed to provide ₹1,500 per month to over one crore women across the state.
The scheme is inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ and is emphasised as a permanent and ongoing program by CM Eknath Shinde.
The scheme is getting implemented just ahead of the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ festival. The eligible women can fill the online application form using a smartphone application named ‘Nari Shakti Dhoot’. However, in case the women have no access to smartphones and the internet, officials of the local administration including anganwadi workers and gram sevaks can help them in filling the form. As for application fees, it is important to note that there is no cost incurred to apply for the scheme.
Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana Eligibility
1. Women must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra.
2. The scheme applies to women between the ages of 21 to 65
3. The scheme focuses on financially disadvantaged women, specifically those whose family income is less than ₹2.5 lakh per annum.
4. Applicants are suggested to link their Aadhar card to their bank account in order to avoid delays in verification and funds distribution.
Although the scheme officially launches on August 17 but considers July as the starting month. Over 3 million women have already received ₹3,000 in their bank accounts ensuring a successful early trial. The financial assistance of ₹1,500 per month is expected to cost the Maharashtra state government ₹46,000 crore annually.
CM Eknath Shinde has promised that this scheme is not only about giving money but also about making women financially independent. He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has ensured that women get more and more financial assistance through various schemes to empower them and obtain self-respect, independence, and self-reliance.
