Kamchatka: A massive earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale on Sunday night struck Russia’s Kamchatka leading to major chaos in the area. The earthquake, which was measured as severe on the Richter scale, hit near the East Coast of Kamchatka peninsula in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at 12.40 am, as per the Indian time. The National Center for Seismology, the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country, confirmed the earthquake in Russia.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake, which hit Kamchatka on Sunday midnight, was found to be located at a depth of 65 km near the East Coast of the Kamchatka peninsula.
According to the information, no reports of loss of lives and property have been reported so far.
