New Delhi: After former US President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump expressed desire of appointing Tech mogul Elon Musk to a cabinet position or an advisory role within his administration if he returned to power, the latter responded positively, saying he was “willing to serve.”
The billionaire businesman, Musk, in a post on X wrote, “I am willing to serve.” Along with a caption, he posted an AI pic of himself standing on a podium with “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)” inscribed on it. The acronym is a playful nod to Dogecoin, the popular cryptocurrency that originated as a meme.
This comes days after the Tesla CEO held a conversation with Trump on X in which the duo spoke about a range of topics , including his assassination attempt and presidential bid.
On Monday, Trump had mentioned that, if he wins November 5 elections elected, he would consider appointing Musk to a cabinet position or an advisory role within his administration.
Trump’s comments followed his critique of the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle (EV) purchases, a measure he suggested he might abolish if he returns to the White House.
“Tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing,” Trump said following a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
Upon being specifically asked about the possibility of giving the Tesla CEO a particular role in his administration, Trump responded, “He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He’s a brilliant guy.”
