New Delhi: Team India will host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series followed by three T20Is starting 19th September. While the participation of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the series is still not confirmed, a report suggests that he might return in the home series against Bangladesh. Bumrah was last seen in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024, which India won.
According to a report in Indian Express, Bumrah could feature in the two-match Test series next month. The report further mentions that Bumrah will not play both the matches but will be seen in action in one of the games. Additionally, the report also mentions that the pacer will take part for sure in India’s another home Test series against New Zealand, which takes place in October.
No clarity on Shami’s return
While there were speculations that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) want their lethal paceman to be fit for the Border-Gavaskar trophy in December but it seems like he will take on to the field before that. Meanwhile, there also no clearance on when pacer Mohammed Shami will resume his duties and in this scenario, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will take charge of the Indian bowling contingent.
Keeping the hectic calendar in mind, that starts next month with the Bangladesh series, the BCCI would most likely give rest to Siraj too at one point of time. India have enjoyed a fantastic 2024 season so far where they won the T20 World Cup 2024 and other series’ as well. The Men in Blue unfortunately went down in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, losing it 0-2. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and guidance of new head coach Gautam Gambhir, the Blues will try to give their best shot in the upcoming assignments.
