New Delhi: Liverpool have reached an agreement to transfer Giorgi Mamardashvili in a deal worth up to £29 m. The Georgia goalkeeper will join subject to a work permit and international clearance for a fee of £25m and £4m add-ons.
The 23-year-old, who shone for Georgia in Euro 2024, will return to Valencia on loan rather than moving straight to Anfield. So, he will spend the rest of the season as a Valencia player before making a move to Merseyside for the start of the 2025-26 season.

Alisson Becker, the Brazilian international, remains Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper. The 31-year-old has recently reiterated that he is happy at the club, and with three years left in the contract, it is possible that he could remain at the club past the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Liverpool also have Republic of Ireland stopper Caoimhin Kelleher at his disposal this season. He is not interested in extending his contract past 2026 till a suitable offer arrives. Mamardashvili played for Georgia in the four matches at Euro 2024 before Spain knocked them out in the last 16.
For Valencia, he has made 102 appearances since joining them in 2021 and has even started both their season fixtures against Barcelona and Celta Vigo, top-flight conceding five goals in defeat.
A loan to Valencia made sense for all, given that the goalkeeper had made it clear earlier in the summer that he was not willing to join a team where he would not be the first choice. The Reds have arranged for Giorgia Mamardashvili’s medical to take place in Spain on Monday. Valencia are back in La Liga action away to Atletico Bilbao, and Mamardashvili is expected to line up in goal for the visitors.
Liverpool is on the brim of confirming its first signing of the summer with Giorgi Mamardashvili agreeing to join the Reds from Valencia. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
