Illia Golem Yefimchyk, a Belarusian bodybuilder known for his massive physique, passed away at the age of 36.
He reportedly suffered a heart attack on September 6, fell into a coma, and died on September 11.
His wife, Anna, attempted to save him with chest compressions while awaiting an ambulance. She shared that, although his heart restarted for two days, his brain had ceased functioning.
“I spent every day with him, hoping for recovery. His heart started beating again for two days, but doctors informed me that his brain had stopped functioning,” Anna told local media.
“I thank everyone for their condolences. It’s very heartwarming to realize that I am not left alone in this world, and so many people have offered me help and support.” she added
Yefimchyk, nicknamed “The Mutant,” stood at 6 feet tall and weighed 340 pounds.
He ate seven meals a day and maintained 25-inch biceps by consuming up to 16,500 calories a day. His strict diet included over five pounds of steak and more than 100 pieces of sushi.
Yefimchyk gained fame after competing and sharing his routines online despite never competing in professional bodybuilding events.
He claimed to perform a 600-pound bench press, 700-pound deadlift, and 700-pound squats.
