New Delhi: The 35th edition of the 2024-25 Frauen-Bundesliga kicked off on the 30th of August. Germany’s premier league women’s football league will conclude on 11th May 2025. Matchday 1 was concluded on September 2, 2024, with VfL Wolfsburg concluding the day with a 3-3 equalizer with Werder Bremen.
VfL Wolfsburg holds the record for winning the most championships, along with FFC Frankfurt. Despite the league’s competitiveness, it has been semi-professional. From the 2021-22 edition, the UEFA women’s coefficient, the top three teams will qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Format
The Bundesliga format currently consists of 12 teams. The 22 games in each of the two rounds make up a Bundesliga season. Every club competes against every other club in a round, with a home game against one particular team in one round and an away game in the other. Usually, the first round of the season ends in December, beginning in August or September.
Though occasionally, the first games of the second round are played in December, the second round normally begins in February and ends in May or June. The league may change its schedule to accommodate the competition during World Cup years.
The DFB stated in June 2024 that there will be 14 teams playing from the 2025–2026 season.
