All records POTM Ravichandran Ashwin bagged in IND’s 280-run 1st Test triumph vs BAN

New Delhi: Ravichandran Ashwin claimed all the spotlight as India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs on Sunday. in the first Test of the two-match series that was played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ashwin took complete advantage of his home ground, first making headlines with a quickfire hundred to revive his team and then clinching a six-wicket haul to hand India a major and record win.

The 38-year-old bagged several records in what was his 101st Test match. Having already achieved the milestone of 500 Test wickets earlier this year, it seemed like he was bound to add more to his elite list because of the homely conditions. Although he went wicketless in the first innings, he went on to pick six scalps in the second innings, adding to Bangladesh’s misery and helping his team bundle them out on 234/10 in 62.1 overs.

Earlier on Day 1, when the Indian top order was left rattled by Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud, Ashwin rose to the occasion alongside Ravindra Jadeja and smashed a ton on the very first day. His innings was a pure example of how well one knows his own den as his masterful knock showcased skillful and timely shot selections. He scored 113 off 133 balls, hitting 11 fours and two sixes and with the ball registered 0/29 in the first and 6/88 in the second innings.

With his all-round heroics for Team India, he entered several record lists and was bound to receive the Player of the Match award as well.
