New Delhi: In view of the huge demand from passengers, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced to operate 26 special trains during the Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals from October 1 to November 30. To facilitate a smooth travel experience and accommodate excess huge rush of passengers during festivals and summer vacation, Indian Railways runs special trains.
NFR chief public relations officer said the festival special trains will cover destinations like Bengaluru, Prayagraj, Anand Vihar, Amritsar, Gorakhpur, Kolkata, and Shri Ganganagar among others. The trains will also facilitate the passengers of other important destinations falling in the journey route. The Puja Special trains will also boost connectivity to areas such as Dibrugarh, Silchar, New Tinsukia, Agartala, Naharlagun, and Katihar.
“NFR has proposed 26 special trains with 254 trips this year for the festive season,” it said. The release stated that the ‘13 pairs of special trains which will be operated during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja from October 1 to November 30 to facilitate smooth travel experience for passengers’.
NFR is scheduled to run a Puja Special train from October 8 to November 27, 2024 between Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi and Katihar in Bihar. The train will operate twice a week. Train no 04047 will start its journey from Katihar every Wednesday and Saturday at 6 pm, and reach its destination Anand Vihar Terminal the next day. Train no 04048 will leave Anand Vihar Terminal every Tuesday and Friday at 3:20 pm, and reach Katihar the next day.
A Puja special train will run from Dibrugarh in Assam to SSS Hubballi Junction in Karnataka on October 5, 2024. It will depart from Dibrugarh station at 1:30 pm and arrive at Hubballi on 8th October at 9 am.
Meanwhile, Central Railway has also announced to run 154 additional Special Train Services for Diwali and Chhat Puja festivals.
