New Delhi: FC Barcelona has long been the breeding ground for some of the world’s brightest talents at their disposal. The club is well recognised for both having and producing elite players. Barca continues the same tradition today as under Hansi Flick the Blaugrana’s exceptional pool of players have played a pivotal role in their impressive form so far, keeping them at the top of the La Liga standings. Lamine Yamal the 17-year-old Barcelona prodigy has taken things to a whole new level in the latest Transfermarkt evaluations.
Yamal has rewritten the history books as he becomes the highest-valued Spanish footballer, with a new market value of €150 million according to Transfermarkt. He was previously valued at €120 million, his market worth has increased by an additional €30 million in the latest update by the transfer market website.

This meteoric rise makes him the highest-valued Spaniard ever surpassing Manchester City’s Rodri, who stands at €130 million. FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta also previously revealed that the club had turned down a €200 million offer for Lamine earlier in 2024.
If Barca had agreed to the deal, it would have made Yamal the most expensive Spaniard in terms of transfer fees, smashing the previous record set by Chelsea in 2018 when they paid €80 million for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The young winger made waves with his debut as a 15-year-old under Xavi Hernandez in 2023 and continues to shatter records and elevate his profile. Lamine’s breakout on the global stage occurred this summer at the Euros where his performances were crucial in helping Spain secure their record fourth European Championship title. His goals and assists guided La Roja to victory over England in the final cementing his status as one of football’s brightest prospects.
The 17-year-old has started off the 2024/25 season on high note having played a pivotal role in FC Barcelona’s early success. The Catalan giants sit three points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, with Lamine’s contributions key to their dominance so far. With the highly anticipated El Clasico looming later this month all eyes are on the teenager to continue his fine form.

During the ongoing international break, however, Lamine added another milestone to his rapidly growing list of achievements. Yamal’s rapid development has astonished football analysts. His importance to both Barcelona and Spain’s national team is undeniable, especially at such a young age. His experience and on-pitch efficiency have grown exponentially with five goals and five assists already to his name this season, edging close to last year’s tally in just nine games.
The increase in Yamal’s market valuation will not only benefit him individually but also Barca’s overall value. The La Masia talent has now officially become the second-highest-valued Barcelona player in history.
Second-highest in Barcelona’s history
The only player in Barcelona’s history who holds a higher valuation than Yamal at the very peak of his prowess is none other than Lionel Messi. It’s no shock considering the Argentine is widely regarded by many as the greatest of all time. However, Yamal’s rapid rise at just 17 years old highlights the incredible strides he has made in such a short span.
When Barcelona returns to action following the international break, they will face crucial clashes against Real Madrid in La Liga and Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the end of this month. Lamine Yamal is expected to be at the heart of their efforts in these matches as his record-breaking market value only underscores the immense impact he has had and the bright future that lies ahead.
