Bad Cop: Gulshan Devaiah and Anurag Kashyap take the cop-villain chase a notch higher
Bad Cop: Gulshan Devaiah and Anurag Kashyap take the cop-villain chase a notch higher Disney+ Hotstar has announced their upcoming action-drama series Bad Cop, a classic cop vs villain story with a lot of twists and turns. The show marks Fremantle India’s first fictional series production in India. Hotstar Specials’ Bad Cop will be released soon exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar. The series revolves around a classic cop vs villain story with a lot of twists and turns. Karan, a fierce cop, tries to chase down Kazbe, a villain more powerful and deadly than him and simultaneously managing his personal relationships. The show stars Gulshan Devaiah, Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva & Anurag Kashyap
Aradhana Bhola, Managing Director, Fremantle India said, “We are excited to begin a brand new chapter in Fremantle India’s journey of content creation with our very first drama web series Bad Cop. To bring the Indian version of this format, originally created by RTL, alive for Disney+ Hotstar, we worked with the best of talent across the board. Writer Rensil D’Silva reimagined the intriguing yet quirky world in an Indian setting, the rooted characters were brought to life by a talented ensemble cast led by Gulshan Devaiah, Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva & Anurag Kashyap under the able direction of Aditya Datt who above all, brought his mass action sensibilities to the series. We hope that our excitement proves to be infectious with the audience loving Bad Cop as much as we have loved creating it.”Director Aditya Datt expressed, “We are super happy to bring a story which is classic, quirky, thrilling and full of action! It’s a hardcore classic cop vs villain chase, but with a fun twist that will leave you intrigued till the end. The series has high octane action, eccentric characters and is a complete entertainer. Each character of the series has been crafted with utmost depth and detailing, that is played by some fabulous actors. My collaboration with Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India was a remarkable experience because we were chasing a common vision for the series and we hope audiences enjoy this adventure.”Talking about his role as a villian, Anurag Kashyap said, “I have created a lot of characters that are gore, quirky, dark and many more things but believe it or not it was difficult for me to be one. Kazbe is someone who doesn’t think too much before doing anything, he just does it. He is a dreadful, eccentric, nefarious and a quintessential villain. I had to bite into the intricacies of this character and make it my own. Being directed by Aditya Datt was a great experience and collaborating with partners like Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India was incredible.”Gulshan Devaiah who plays the cop, while talking about his role expressed, “I had a lot of fun working on Bad Cop because it’s an out-and-out entertainer. I am excited because it’s a very different kind of role for me. I played a different cop in another show as Devilal, but here it’s more like a massy-entertaining kind of cop. I was familiar with Aditya Datt’s style since I had worked with him before, he is very straightforward and wants to make an entertaining, cool show that people will enjoy. The action was a bit tough, particularly the running, which challenged me because I’m not used to doing action and I’m not physically built for it. Overall it was fun working with Fremantle India and Disney+ Hotstar. Moreover, it was enjoyable to perform with Anurag, who had only directed and produced my films earlier, but it was fun to do scenes and action with him. It was a great moment for me because I never expected to be acting with him. I’m curious to see how people will enjoy my version of a filmy cop. Hopefully, it’s fun for the viewers as well, so I’m very eager to know their reactions.”Hotstar Specials’ Bad Cop is directed by Aditya Datt adapted by Rensil D’Silva, introduces Anurag Kashyap as the quirky, charming and deadly villain, Kazbe and Gulshan Devaiah as Karan a daunting and daring cop, the series also stars Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva and Aishwarya Sushmita in pivotal roles. Also Read: Gulshan Devaiah unveils action-packed avatar in upcoming untitled action series; says, “This is perhaps the best action I’ve had to do after Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota”
