New Delhi: Pakistan debutant Kamran Ghulam impressed everyone in his first Test after the batter slammed a gritty century on the opening day of the second Test match against England on Tuesday. Ghulam, who was brought in as a replacement for the struggling Babar Azam, ended up smashing 118 runs off 224 balls against a tough English bowling side.
Ghulam hit a sensational century, which included 11 boundaries and a six, looking very comfortable against the bowlers. The 29-year-old talented batter replaced Babar after the former skipper was dropped after a recent dismal run, not just as a batter but as a skipper as well. Babar quit as the captain of the white-ball format just a couple of weeks back.
What Babar said after his replacement’s ton?
Following the sensational century from the batter, Babar took to social media to laud Ghulam on his achievement on his debut. The former captain used social media site Instagram as the medium to praise the batter for his efforts.

With the help of the blazing century, Pakistan managed 259/5 on the opening day of the Multan Test. The batter foiled England’s aggressive bowling and superior fielding to take his team to a respectable score at day end when few of the other batters failed to deliver. Apart from Ghulam, Saim Ayub hit 77 runs while Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel failed to deliver for Pakistan.
At close of an even day’s play, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha were unbeaten on 37 and 5 respectively. The day ended Ghulam’s frustrating long wait for a place in the Pakistan team as his clinical efforts in the domestic cricket were far from appreciation till now.
