Moscow: Asserting that Moscow is interested in concluding the crisis with Ukraine on peaceful terms, President Vladimir Putin said that it is the neighboring country that has stopped coming to the table for the negotiations.
Addressing press conference ahead of the BRICS Summit, Putin said the US has strained its relationship with Russia by imposing sanctions continuously and it has impacted them negatively.
‘Russia Wants Peaceful Conclusion But Ukraine Has Stopped Negotiating’
“Russia is interested to conclude it (Ukraine crisis) by peaceful means. It was not us who stopped the negotiations but it was the Ukrainian side,” he said.
Russia and Ukraine have been engaged in conflict since February 2022.

Putin criticized the US, stating that “the entire world is questioning the value of the Dollar .” He noted that even America’s traditional allies are decreasing their Dollar reserves. He added that the US is about 15 years behind and won’t be able to halt China’s development.
Responding to another question, he emphasized that BRICS was never intended to be against anyone. He referenced Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘s assertion that BRICS is not an anti-western organization but rather a non-western one.
Putin highlighted the unique partnership between Russia and China, describing their cooperation on the international stage as a crucial element of global strategic stability. He stated that their relationship is based on mutual consideration of each other’s interests.
He also pointed out that the key indicator of change within the BRICS bloc is the rise of new development centers, especially in the Global South, Southeast Asia, and Africa. According to Putin, these regions are poised for rapid economic growth, driven by various factors that will influence the next phase of global economic power. He noted that countries in Southeast Asia and Africa, which have experienced moderate but steady growth, are on the verge of becoming significant players in the global economy.
