New Delhi: News9’s landmark initiative “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” and Sports For All (SFA) are marching towards the combined success of providing the perfect platform for the budding sports enthusiasts in the country who aspire to become the best in the business.
TV9 Network has tied up with SFA, one of the biggest grassroots sports development platforms in India, for the “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” campaign, a groundbreaking talent hunt that focuses on giving opportunities to young boys and girls (age group – 12 to 14 and 15 to 17) across the country.
A pioneering initiative by News9, from the house of TV9, India’s No. 1 news network, “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” has collaborated with the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, India Football Centre, IFI, BVB, and RIESPO among others, to identify and engage talented youngsters in the country through a top-class scouting network. The winners will be felicitated in Germany in early 2025.
Exhilarating action on Day 9
Day 9 of the SFA Championships 2024 showcased a mix of intense action across multiple sports, with badminton taking centre stage at the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium. Young athletes competed fiercely in the finals for various age categories, highlighting Boys’ and Girls’ singles and doubles. The pair of Pooja and Madalasa Sai from Silver Oaks International School clinched the gold in Girls U-11 Doubles, while Dheeraj and Dharsheel from Arbor International School emerged victorious in the Boys U-13 Doubles.
Carrom debuted at the SFA Championships today, adding a ‘striking’ touch to the Championships. In the U-12 category, Maryam Khatoon from Madina High School secured the gold in the Girls’ singles, while Srikarthi Ikshwak from Vignan’s Bo Tree School, Nizampet, claimed victory in the Boys’ U-12 event.
Apart from these, several other sports saw intense competition throughout the day. Basketball (Girls U-11), Handball (Boys U-16), and Volleyball (Girls U-12) continued to generate excitement as teams advanced in their respective rounds. In the Volleyball Girls U-12 final, Future Kids School (Puppalguda) emerged victorious, adding to the competitive spirit of the day.
It was the last day of athletics at Gachibowli Stadium where several events featured, including race walking and track finals. Notable performances included Samitha Koli from Vignan’s Bo Tree School, who secured the gold in the Girls U-18 5000m Race Walking, and Hrishikesh Reddy from Chirec International School, who clinched the Boys U-16 400m title.
With five days left in the competition, Vignan’s Bo Tree School, Nizampet, maintains its dominant position, with more than a 100-point lead over second-placed DDMS AMS P. Obul Reddy Public School.
This year’s Hyderabad edition of the SFA Championships features over 23,000 athletes from 920 schools, competing across 22 sports. The Championships continue until October 28th, creating a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and providing an opportunity for schools to lead the medal tally.
