New Delhi: Reigning champions Mumbai included middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer in squad for their Ranji Trophy game against Odisha while excluding opener Prithvi Shaw.
Mumbi host the match from Wednesday at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Bandra-Kurla Complex. Iyer had skipped Mumbai’s previous clash against Tripura owing to personal reasons.
Mumbai were held in the match after which Iyer has made himself available for the Odisha game. The BCCI had earlier dropped Iyer from its central contracts list after he ignored a directive to play in domestic matches.
Iyer has fallen out of favour in the Indian team and would look to reclaim his spit in the middle order with solid performances in the Ranji Trophy.
But Shaw continues to be kept out of the squad for the second consecutive game after not being in the team that travelled to Agartala.
The right handed top order batter was part of the squad in the early part of the season and helped them win the Irani Trophy has been ignore for lack of fitness and disciplinary issues.
Shaw has not been retained by Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals and reports say he has developed a whopping 35 per cent body fat apart from facing disciplinary misconduct.
Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai are placed fourth in Elite Group A with nine points along with Tripura.
In three games, Mumbai have won, lost and drawn once, losing to Baroda by 84 runs, beating Maharashtra by nine wickets and drawing with Tripura.
Baroda lead the standings with three wins in as many games, followed by Jammu and Kashmir,who have 11 points.
