New Delhi: Team India is all set to to take on Australia in the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting with the first Test match in Perth on November 22. The Indian team, which is set to depart for Australia in two batches on November 10 and November 11, would be keen on showing their prowess in the longest format after a humiliating defeat against New Zealand recently at home.
According to report published in InsideSports, skipper Rohit Sharma, who was rumoured to miss the first Test match in Perth, will be travelling with the Indian cricket team to Australia. The report further mentions that according to some logistical constraints, the team is departing in two batches. the entire Indian Test squad cannot be flown in a single flight.
Rohit to participate in Perth Test?
Since captain Rohit Sharma is travelling to Australia with the Indian team, will he be participating in the first Test or not? The same report mentions that Rohit is particular about training in the conditions of Australia ahead of the crucial series and will then fly back to India for sometime to attend to his personal commitments.
Reports are there that Rohit and his wife Ritika Sajdeh are expecting a second child, which is why the skipper might be missing the first Test as the delivery is expected to be around the same time. Although, nothing can be confirmed about the same as Rohit is yet to give his official word for the same but rumours are floating on social media.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy is essential for both teams as India, who have slipped to second spot on the WTC standings after a humiliating 0-3 home series defeat against New Zealand, need to win four of the five matches to qualify for the finals.
