Air India: What’s in store after Vistara merger? Tata Sons chairman explains

New Delhi: Air India will imbibe the best qualities of the now defunct aircarrier Vistara which was merged into the Tata Groupo airline, said Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran. Air India aims to fulfil onlookers’ “sky high expectations”, he said in a LinkedIn post.

He reiterated that the merged entity will be prepared to face India’s aviation revolution. However, it will take time for all the merged entities to achieve clockwork since they were in different stages of maturity at the time of the merger, added Chandrasekaran.

Air India to ensure Vistara’s quality

N Chandrasekaran addressed concerns around whether Air India will be able to meet the standards set by Vistara, stating that the “Vistara in-flight experience is not going away” after the merger. The airline has ramped up hiring as well as investments in technology to bring Air India up to date and make it truly world class, according to the Tata Sons chairman’s post. Air India’s fleet had grown 2.5X to 300 jets since its acquisition by Tata Group, he added. It services nearly 2 lakh passengers across 100 destinations on a daily basis, he said.

The newly merged entity is expected to ferry 1.20 lakh passengers daily to over 90 destinations, according to the post.  The airline is also operating nonstop Airbus A350 jets on the Delhi-London and Delhi-New York route, it said. As more new aircraft are delivered, and the legacy fleet is completely refitted, a new AI will take flight,” Chandrasekaran added.

Air India Maharaja Club

Club Vistara members received an email communication from Air India informing them of their migration to Club Maharaja, Air India’s loyalty programme. Members can log into their Club Mahraja account using their registered mobile number or email ID.

The airline also announced the Fly Prior service which allows passengers to fly earlier to their booked destination. Passengers can visit the check-in counter 12 hours prior to the originally booked flight’s time to avail of an earlier flight, subject to the availability of seats, the airline said.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said Vistara’s merger into Air India was an operational requirement. Air India will ensure Vistara’s service quality to Vistara loyalists, he added.  Biz News Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
