New Delhi: Senior Pakistan batter Babar Azam once again failed to play an impactful knock during the second T20 International match against Australia played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday. After Pakistan were set a moderate target of 148 to chase, Babar departed for run-a-ball three.
Babar flicked the ball while playing from his pads against the length delivery of Xavier Bartlett. The shot lacked power as Nathan Ellis took his time to take the catch at the deep square leg. This added to Babar’s failure to score big runs across formats following his dropping from the Test side against England at home last month.
Fans on social media platforms didn’t hold themselves from expressing criticism against the former captain, who is also Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in the format. Some believed that Babar should focus on longer formats while some noted that he has performed in T20Is the best despite the barren run at the moment.
Here are some of the reactions below on Babar Azam’s latest poor show in Sydney.
Babar Azam should never make it to T20 team again.

See bowlers have bad days but Babar Azam is just outright bad at T20 cricket.
Every single time he faces a good team or plays a tournament he shits the bad.
Last time he scored impactful runs in T20is was in 2021.
Has been a total failure after that for 4 years almost.

Sydney Cricket Ground is situated near an active volcano, above dangerous earthquake fault lines where lightning strikes 100 times/s.
Due to all this even ball coming at 50kmph feels like 200 kmph.
None of this explains Babar Azam and Pakistan. pic.twitter.com/E5TDQq4OKV

The only thing I understand from this, Babar wanted to score quick runs for team because alot of Strike-rate talk!!
– Babar should stick to his ground shots in powerplay, he is lethal in those shots rather than going big early #BabarAzam #PAKvAUS pic.twitter.com/cx4nsG1IoU

Babar Azam is Pakistan’s most capped T20I player
Babar Azam became Pakistan’s most-capped T20I player during the first T20 International match against Australia in Brisbane. He surpassed former captain Shoaib Malik’s 123 caps for the national team in the shortest format.
