Australia complete T20I series whitewash over Pakistan

New Delhi: After getting beaten in the ODI series, Australia whitewashed Pakistan in the T20I series, winning the thid and final match by seven wickets in Hobart on Monday.

Pakistan were bowled out for 117 in 18.1 overs after winning the toss and deciding to bat. Aaron Hardie took three wickets while Adam Zampa and Spencer Johnson claimed two each to skittle out Pakitan for a small total.

The home team then completed their chase in only 11.2 overs , losing three wickets, with Marcus Stoinis top scoring with an unbeaten 61 off 27 balls, with five boundaries and five sixes.

Australia had won the seires after winning the rain-hit first game in Brisbane by 29 runs and then clinching the second game in Sydney by 13 runs.

Earlier, opting to bat first at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval, Pakistan reached 62/1 before suffering a collapse to be dismissed in the 19th over.

Hardie claimed 3-21 while spinner Adam Zampa and quick Spencer Johnson also complemented him as Pakistan rested skipper-keeper Mohammad Rizwan, whose place up the order eas taken by Sahibzada Farhan.

But it didn’t work as Farhan departed after only seven balls before top-edging a short delivery from Johnson, who took five wickets in Sydney — to Xavier Bartlett.

Former skipper Babar Azam held one end up with his trypical elegant shots, putting on a quickfire 44 for the second wicket with Haseebullah Khan.

But Kahn was undone by Zampa’s spin, edging to Matt Short on 24 as Pakistan lost Usman Khan (3) cheaply as he was caught on the boundary off Hardie.

Pakistan’s stand-in skipper Salman Agha was trapped leg before by Zampa for one, reducing Pakistan to 72/4 at the halfway mark.

Zampa then bowled Azam and Irfan Khan (10) was run out t o put Pakistan in further trouble as Shaheen Shah Afridi blasted the only six of their innings but then was dismissed.
