Chelsea face injury crisis ahead of Leicester clash as Enzo Maresca waits on updates

New Delhi: Prior to his return to his old team, Leicester City, this weekend, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca must endure a nervous wait over a few of his most important players. The Italian moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer after earning a return to the Premier League with Leicester the previous season.

He will be returning to King Power Stadium for the first time since his departure on Saturday at 6:00 p.m (IST). Chelsea enter the match fresh off consecutive 1-1 draws with Arsenal and Manchester United. However, those games have raised some concerns about injuries before the Premier League returns.

In the tie with United, Cole Palmer, a key player, sustained a knee injury. He played the entire ninety minutes against Arsenal, but he was left out of the England squad for the current international break, therefore he is doubtful for the match against Leicester. Concerns about injuries also caused three other players to withdraw from international service.

Malo Gusto also pulled out of the France team owing to injury, and defender Levi Colwill withdrew from the England squad from an unspecified ailment. Wesley Fofana’s injury concerns prevented him from joining his international team, making him the fourth player to do so. After experiencing knee soreness after the draw with Arsenal, the defender left the France squad so Chelsea could evaluate him.

Romeo Lavia, a midfielder for Belgium, joined the team during the international break even though he was substituted in the second half against Arsenal. Domenico Tedesco, the manager of Belgium, reported that he had a hamstring issue, and he missed both of the team’s 1-0 losses to Italy and Israel.

Summer signing, Jadon Sancho has missed the last two Premier League games due to illness and minor injuries. He is consequently somewhat doubtful for the match against Leicester as a result. Omari Kellyman, a fellow summer acquisition, is one player who will undoubtedly be missed. Due to a hamstring injury, the former Aston Villa player is anticipated to be sidelined until at least late November.
